Preparing for National Ignition Facility Experiments at LLE

Target Fabrication Technician, Michelle Evans, is shown performing target metrology, in this case one of the magnetic-field plasma targets, using LLE’s Powell scope. Evans uses the Powell scope to confirm target mounting angles (matching them with the PI’s VisRad models) and to capture images of the targets in various chamber views. In addition, the necessary alignment measurements required for operational tasks will be documented and used on shot day by the experimental watchstanders.
