OMEGA EP

The OMEGA EP Laser System has been operational since 2008 and consists of four beamlines in a NIF-like architecture, with two of the beams capable of supporting picosecond operation.

Joint Operations

The OMEGA EP Laser System is capable of coupling picosecond pulses to the OMEGA target chamber in support of Joint Operations.

OMEGA 60

The OMEGA laser has been operational since 1995 and is one of LLE’s primary research tools. It stands 10 meters tall and is approximately 70 meters in length. OMEGA’s 60 laser beams focus up to 40,000 joules of energy onto a target that measures less than 1 millimeter in diameter in approximately one billionth of a second.
