Measuring Scattered-Light Uniformity on Implosion Experiments

The image shows the light shields used on the five scattered-light uniformity instruments activated on OMEGA to measure the scattered-light uniformity on implosion experiments. These results in combination with 3-D cross-beam energy transfer (CBET) simulations will be used to make the first accurate assessment of the laser-beam absorption in direct-drive implosion experiments on OMEGA.
