LLE’s 34th Summer High School Research Program has just concluded. Sixteen high school students were given the opportunity to work with LLE’s nationally and internationally recognized scientists on real research projects of current interest, using state-of-the-art scientific equipment and computational tools in a world-class research laboratory. The students worked full time for eight weeks and presented their results at a symposium in the laboratory at the end of the summer. A total of 431 students from 55 high schools have now participated in the program since its inception in 1989. The program took a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restarted in 2021 as a virtual program, and returned to a normal, in-person program in 2022. The 16 participants in the 2023 program are shown here with the program director, Dr. Stephen Craxton.
