Hong Sio (MIT grad student) is shown holding the new 3-cm x-ray and charged-particle nose cone for the particle temporal diagnostic (PTD). It is a joint project between LLE and MIT, designed to simultaneously measure DD-n and D3He-p reaction histories in inertial confinement fusion implosions with high relative precision. The PTD team includes Mark Bedzyk (design and engineering), Joe Katz (assembly and testing), Hong Sio and Christian Stoeckl (design), Dave Weiner (optical engineering), Michelle McCluskey (project manager), and the MIT central machine shop (manufacturing).
