CPR training practice with Amy Rigatti and Rodi Keisidis

Medical emergencies require a deliberate and rapid response. LLE has nearly 31 staff members trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Semiannual training is provided at LLE by American Heart Association (AHA) certified instructors, and 171 staff members have been trained with the program since 2009. Amy Rigatti and Rodi Keisidis are shown initiating shock by the AED on a specialized mannequin during a two-person CPR/AED drill at a recent training session. Providing instruction is Brighton Volunteer Ambulance Paramedic, Shawna Rizzi. In addition to the protocols required for certification by the AHA, the University of Rochester has supplied the necessary tools for additional training in use of tourniquets for bleeding control and dissemination of Naloxone (Narcan).
