Equation-of-state (EOS), providing the pressure and internal energy as a function of the material density and temperature, is of fundamental importance for high-energy-density (HED) plasma science. Establishing a forum for examining the various EOS models and benchmarking them with existing/future experiments is especially important for understanding and designing inertial confinement fusion/HED experiments. The first EOS Workshop was held at LLE 31 May–2 June, and represented 17 institutions and national laboratories.
