Congratulations to Maria Gatu Johnson on Receiving the APS DPP Weimer Award

Maria Gatu Johnson was awarded the American Physical Society Division of Plasma Physics Katherine E. Weimer award for outstanding achievement in plasma science research by a woman physicist in the early years of her career. The award was given to her for her pioneering work in identifying flows in implosions and for determining their impact on the implosion performance, as well as using HED plasmas for studying basic nuclear science. The citation on the certificate will read as follows: “For significant contributions to Inertial Fusion Sciences and pioneering work in Stellar Nucleosynthesis through nuclear measurements.” Dr. Gatu Johnson is a Research Scientist at the MIT Plasma Science & Fusion Center. She conducts research at the Omega Laser Facility and is a member of the Omega Laser Facility Users Group Executive Committee.
