Quick Shot

The Omega Laser Facility is featured in a new video published by the University of Rochester.  This video highlights the revisions that were made to the Omega Facility and its operational paradigm in order to continue to conduct experiments in the presence of COVID-19 workplace constraints. The changes included reconfiguring control rooms and developing a “ShotStream,” a virtual venue for our users to interact with each other and with the shot crews. These changes protect employees while delivering the Omega Facility’s normal experimental performance, agility, and user experience to scientists who are located around the globe and are now unable to travel to LLE.  These new features are expected to continue to improve the facility’s user experience and capabilities even after the end of the pandemic.
