Quick Shot

Several scientists from LLE presented their work at the annual Direct Drive Fast Ignition Workshop in Madrid, Spain from 3–5 May 2022. Productive discussions on various topics related to a laser direct-drive ignition approach included summary of accomplishments of 100-Gbar campaign on OMEGA (Sean Regan), imprint mitigation strategies (Suxing Hu), laser coupling experiments (Luke Ceurvorst), measuring the onset of hot-spot formation (Raul Shah), and high-gain target designs (Will Trickey and Valeri Goncharov). The meeting also provides a great opportunity to promote collaboration with research groups from the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
