LLE Scientists Awarded Department of Energy Funding

LLE Theory Division Director, Valeri Goncharov, and Senior Scientist, Petros Tzeferacos, were awarded funding through the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy’s (ARPA-E) Breakthroughs Enabling Thermonuclear-fusion Energy (BETHE) program. Goncharov’s funding award is for developing advanced laser-drive, high-target design technology for inertial fusion energy. Tzeferacos’ award is for providing BETHE projects with theory and modeling capabilities and other such support in developing simulations of new fusion experiments and concepts.
