Ka Ming (Jack) Woo

Research Associate

Ka Ming Woo started in heavy-ion inertial fusion research under his graduate research advisor, Simon Yu, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focused on the theory of ion-beam transportation instabilities. Dr. Woo completed his Ph.D. in Physics at University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics under advisor Riccardo Betti. His thesis developed the 3-D radiation-hydrodynamic code DEC3D (used to model the deceleration phase of inertial confinement fusion implosions) and performed theoretical analysis of flow effects on ion-temperature measurements. He is currently interested in applying deep-learning neural networks to improve the performance of inertial confinement fusion experiments.
