Fernando Garcia-Rubio

Assistant Scientist

Fernando García-Rubio is an Assistant Scientist at the LLE. He currently provides computational support for the experiments proposed at the Innovative Concepts Group and collaborates with the FLASH Center for Computational Science. Fernando’s current research interests concern the development of alternative Z-pinch fusion schemes and the analysis of magnetohydrodynamic instabilities that develop in high-power laser experiments. Before this appointment, Fernando held a postdoctoral research position at the University of Rochester and the LLE, where he studied the effects of self-generated magnetic fields on hydrodynamic instabilities of relevance to inertial confinement fusion. For this task, Fernando adopted a semi-analytical approach, employing the mathematical techniques he acquired during his Ph.D. at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid under the supervision of Javier Sanz Recio.
