Cody B. Taylor is a Research Engineer and Group Leader for Mechanical Engineering at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics. As Group Leader, Cody is responsible for guiding the team through the design, fabrication, and integration of equipment used in support of the Laboratory’s five-fold mission.
Cody received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. As part of the degree program, he joined LLE in the summer of 2008 to complete his co-op requirements and continued to work part-time for the remainder of the program. After spending a couple of years working in the production environment as a Navy/Nuclear Design Engineer for Baldor in Georgia, Cody returned to LLE to complete his M.S. in mechanical engineering at the University of Rochester, where he also obtained his M.B.A. from Simon Business School. He then went on to work as a Cryogenic Engineer in the Collider-Accelerator Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory prior to returning to LLE once more for his current position.
Cody’s contributions to LLE include research and design for the Laboratory’s cryogenic program and mechanical design for the linear induction motor, magneto-inertial fusion electrical discharge system, high-resolution spectrometer, and various other projects used on OMEGA and OMEGA EP.
