In 2026, LLE will bring together pioneers, partners, and policymakers to celebrate three eras of innovation: the OMEGA 60 facility that has driven fusion and astrophysics experiments for decades, the chirped pulse amplification breakthrough that revolutionized high‑power lasers and earned the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics, and LLE’s sustained leadership as a global center for laser‑driven discovery and innovation.

40 Years of Chirped Pulse Amplification
Listen to Donna Strickland and Gérard Mourou, whose 1985 CPA work led to the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics, along with leaders from the ICF, high‑energy-density physics, and ultrahigh‑intensity laser communities.
After the talks, we’ll cut the ribbon on the new target chamber for the MTW OPAL laser.
