LLE Featured in May 2024 Edition of Laser Focus World

Laser Focus World magazine cover and inside pages spread across a light gray background.

If you haven’t already seen the May 2024 issue of Laser Focus World, you can access a digital copy on the magazine’s website. Inside you’ll find a full-length article featuring an interview with LLE distinguished scientist and Theory Division Director Valeri Goncharov about the laboratory’s research program on inertial confinement fusion. Highlighted in the article are LLE’s contributions to the milestone ignition achievement at the National Ignition Facility in December 2022, a discussion of the pros and cons of direct- versus indirect-drive fusion, and a look ahead to the laboratory’s potential plans for a next-generation broadband implosion facility.
