LLE Tours

Our guided tours offer a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the cutting-edge laser technology and research that LLE is known for. Designed to inspire and educate, these tours are ideal for both individuals or group interested in science and innovation. Each tour is led by an LLE graduate student who draws on their hands-on experience and research involvement to offer a deeper perspective.

Who Should Attend?

Our tours are particularly well-suited for the following audiences:

  • High School Students: Our tours are perfect for those with a strong interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and provide an engaging way to explore potential career paths in scientific research and laser technology.
  • College-Level Students: Tours are a valuable resource for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing studies in physics, engineering, or related fields. The content each tour can be customized to align with their academic focus.
  • Professional Teams: Ideal for corporate or industry groups interested in understanding advanced laser systems, optical physics, or applications of laser technology in research and development.
  • Community Groups: LLE tour guides are happy to tailor tour content to the needs and interests of various community groups, ensuring a meaningful and insightful experience for all.

Scheduling and Logistics

  • Scheduling: Tours must be scheduled at least 30 days in advance. They are generally available on Mondays and Fridays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
  • Length: Tours typically last between 1 and 1.5 hours, offering ample time to explore and ask questions.
  • Group Size: For an optimal experience, group size is limited to a minimum of 10 people to a maximum of 25 people.

Tour Accessibility and Facilities

  • Stair Access: Please note that our tours involve climbing and descending several staircases. Unfortunately, elevator access is not available. If mobility is a concern, please contact us in advance to discuss potential accommodations.
  • Laser Facilities: The LLE is home to two state-of-the-art laser facilities. Whenever possible, tours are scheduled when both facilities are accessible, allowing participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of our research and capabilities. If your availability is limited, arrangements can be made to visit one facility.

Important Considerations

  • Laser Availability: Tours are only conducted when the laser systems are not in use. On rare occasions, operational needs may require us to reschedule your tour. If this occurs, we will notify you promptly and work with you to find an alternative date.
