About Joint Operations
Joint operations couple OMEGA 60 and two short-pulse OMEGA EP beams in the OMEGA target chamber to
acheive 5 primary missions:
Extend HED research capabilities with high-energy and high-brightness backlighting
Perform integrated advanced-ignition experiments
Develop advanced backlighter techniques for HED physics
Staging facility for the NIF to improve its effectiveness
Conduct ultrahigh-intensity laser–matter interactions research
