Preparing Information for LLE Web Sites
The following is a list of required web site specifications used throughout the LLE pages. If you use a provided template to generate your pages, a style sheet applies the link, rollover, visited link colors, and font family automatically. If you do not use a template for your pages, contact a Site Administrator so that the style sheet may be applied to your page immediately. If you would like to add new content or make substantial changes to existing pages, you will need to follow the submission and revision guidelines.

General Guidelines
There are some general rules and guidelines that need to be followed for a web site to work properly and for content to be managed successfully. Please follow the conventions listed here when preparing files for any LLE web sites.

File Names must have
  • less than 32 characters,
  • a file extension, and
  • no spaces, slashes, dots (other than for the file extension), asterisks, dollar signs, or other symbol(s)/symbol fonts.
  • Please utilize a file-naming convention established with a Site Administrator.

Images should
  • use a naming scheme established with a Site Administrator,
  • be saved as a .jpeg or .gif,
    • .jpeg for continuous tone images (photos),
    • .gif for vector images, banners, or images with larger solid blocks of color,
  • be stored in an assigned folder and backed up to the photo archive directory.

.pdf files should be optimized for the web.
  • In Acrobat Distillers choose Job Options: Screen prior to creating a .pdf file.
  • The file name must have the extension .pdf.

Contribute users should utilize the following guidelines:
  • Contact your administrator before making any changes to your setup.
  • Do not override any established styles or change established page layouts.
  • Unless otherwise directed, let Contribute decide where dependent files should be placed on the server.
  • Consult your administrator before adding any forms or scripts to the web pages you are maintaining.
