Visitor's Guide
Since 1970, the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University
of Rochester has been creating a history rich with invention and innovation.
We are a unique national resource for research and education in science
and technology, as well as the home of OMEGA—the world's most-powerful
ultraviolet laser system. Over the past 30 years more than 800 students
have received training at LLE and more than 65 patents have been earned
by our scientists. While our primary focus is studying the feasiblity
of inertial confinement fusion as an inexhaustable energy source, LLE
also hosts the National Laser Users' Facility (NLUF), a unique program
that allows qualified researchers to use the OMEGA facility for a variety
of experiments. More information about the Laboratory for Laser Energetics
is available in our Visitor's Guide (4.63 MB, .pdf).
